“You can accomplish anything you wish that is not contradictory to the laws of God or man, providing you are willing to pay the price” O G Mandino, (A better way to live).
O G Mandino is one of those writers who I consider to have been inspired by the Holy Spirit in his writings and teachings. His writings resonate with Biblical principles an indication that he found his worth and inspiration from the scriptures. In his book “A better way to live” he states that “when God gave us dominion over the world, He also gave us dominion over ourselves. We each plot our own map. God is our navigator---God bestowed on each of us intellect and talent and vision to map our own way, to write our own book of life in any manner we chose” (P.46). He reminds us that our worth is always determined by our deeds not by our good intention, however noble. Indeed James in his epistle writes “--- faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead” James 2:17.
In “A better way to live” he suggests the following principles;
1) Count your blessings- Once you realize how valuable you are and how much you have going for you, you will finally be able to move forward toward the life that God intended for you with grace, strength, courage and confidence.
2) Today and everyday deliver more than you are getting paid to do- The victory of success will be half won when you learn the secrets of putting out more than is expected in all that you do.
3) Whenever you make a mistake or get knocked down by life, don’t look back at it long- Mistakes are life’s way of teaching you. Your failures when they happen are just part of your growth. Never quit, your turn will come.
4) Always reward your long hours of labor and toil in the very best way, surrounded by your family- Nurture their love carefully remembering that your children need models not critics and your own progress will hasten when you constantly strive to present your best side to your children. Even if you have failed at all else in the eyes of the world, if you have a loving family you are a success.
5) Build this day on a foundation of pleasant thoughts - Never fret at any imperfections that you fear may impede your progress. Remind yourself as often as you can that you are a creation of God and you have the power to achieve any dream by lifting up your thoughts.

How to identify your life dream
“Jabez called on the God of Israel saying, “Oh that you would bless me indeed, and enlarge my territory, that Your hand would be with me, and that You would keep me from evil, that I may not cause pain!” So God granted him what he requested” 1 Chronicles 4:10.
To become successful or fulfilled in life you must start with a dream. A life dream is the way you want to live, not just the things you want to own. It is the person you want to be not just the title you want to see under your name on the door. It is the mindset that you have not the degrees you earn. A life dream is in actuality the world view that you claim as your own.
The critical point to recognize is that both the unlimited potential of childhood and the tight constraints of adulthood originate and reside primarily in the imagination. If you believe you can, you probably can and if you believe that you cannot you most assuredly will not. It is therefore important to identify what your life dream is. To do so start by setting an atmosphere for yourself that is conducive to identifying your life dreams. A prayer to God may guide you on the direction you should take.
Start by revisiting your childhood dreams because in most cases childhood dreams hold the key to the person’s true cache of talents, abilities and motivation. I remember as I child I was the family counselor even though I was the youngest. As I grew older I would notice that if there was a family crisis my family would insist on consulting with me first before acting. I became a lawyer because of the need to defend the cause of those oppressed but I realized I was counseling more and felt more fulfilled when I reconciled my clients. I decided to go back to school to add counseling to my qualifications and I know that this is what I was called to do in life.
To determine your life dream ask yourself the following questions:
1) If you had a great deal of money what would you do that you cannot do now?
2) What one thing in your life would you really like to experience in your life?

Simple Steps to personal success
“This book of the Law shall not depart form your mouth, but you shall mediate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success” Joshua 1: 8.
Many people in the world are miserable looking for something that seems elusive to them. They want success which is defined by external things like material wealth, power, or a big title. Yet there are others who have all the things that some define as success but have discovered that they are still not happy even though what they wanted is now theirs. So what is the problem?
The secret of getting what you what and wanting what you have is first learning how to be happy, loving, confident and peaceful regardless of your outer conditioning. Personal success comes from within and is achieved when you are able not only to be yourself but also to love yourself. It is feeling confident, happy and powerful in the process of doing what you want to do.
If you are already happy and you know that you are not dependent on more money to be happy, greater wealth can make you happier but is not the condition for your happiness. The more you think that money is capable of making you happy the more you give away your power to be happy without it. In his book “How to get what you want and want what you have”, John Gray suggests the following four steps in achieving personal success.
Step one: Set your intention- Recognize where you are now and clearly see where you need to go to achieve the right balance of inner and outer success for you. In other words “be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God” Romans 12:2. Ask God for the direction of your life.

How to Get what you want
"The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord, and He delights in his way. Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down; For the Lord upholds him with His hand" Psalm 37:23-24.
The secret of our outer success is desire. You must know what you want, feel it deeply and believe it. The three attributes of passion, belief and desire are the power wheel to getting what you want. When you exercise your will with actions to satisfy your desires, your desires become stronger. The more you persist the more you believe and the more you feel.
By taking action to get what you want you strengthen your belief. The world will not believe in you until you believe. Those who think big or desire big draw even bigger obstacles to overcome. If you are patient and persistent and continue to exercise your will to fulfill your desire, you will succeed. It is not always what you do but what you want, feel and believe that counts.
Action is required to bring to fruitation our desire but it does not have to wear us down nor does it have to be a struggle. Once you have learned to access your inner intuition and confidence you will not have to push so hard or take big risks to attract success. Doing too much is sometimes the result of not believing in your power to attract and activate success. By relying fully on doing to achieve many people disconnect with the belief that they can get what they want.
The fire of passion once ignited attracts great and brilliant ideas. Whenever we push ourselves to our limit we feel our limit by experiencing negative emotions. When we push to our limit and then let go, we are turning it over to God. Regardless of your particular orientation, when you let go after doing everything you can, you will receive what you want.
When we experience our spiritual connection with God it becomes easier to remember that we are not alone and that we are helped. God is Spirit and He wants us to worship him in truth and Spirit (John 4:24). Having confidence that we can do something is trusting that our intended outcome will occur. If you can turn it over to God each day, but continue to direct, you do not have to push that hard at all.
To have success we cannot expect God to do everything. We need to feel responsible for our desire and ask God for help. To attract and create what we want we must be able to feel and release the negative emotions that naturally arise when we really want something and do not get it. When we are right with God, what we want is what God wants for us. To know God’s will for us we must open our hearts and then simply ask ourselves what it is that we want.

How not to disconnect from your true Desires
Recognizing and honoring all your desires is the basis of finding your true self. This involves recognizing your soul’s desire, your mind’s desire, your hearts desire and your body’s desire. Staying in touch with and honoring all your desires gives you a clear direction in life and ensures personal success. Honoring a desire does not mean you have to act on it.
We however create in our lives blocks that interfere with the process of our establishing our true desires. John Gray in his book “How to get what you want and want what you have” suggests twelve ways in which people disconnect from their feelings. These are revenge, attachment, doubt, rationalization, defiance, submission, avoidance, justification, rejection, withholding, reaction and sacrifice. He suggests dealing with such feelings as follows;
1) Get mad not even- When we feel the need to hurt or make someone suffer, we are not in harmony with our true nature of being loving. By learning to release blame with forgiveness you free yourself from the tendency to waste your energy and power in trying to get even. When you let go of revenge you take back your power to be happy and fulfilled within yourself without depending on the outside.
2) Give up attachment and keep desiring- When our hearts are not healed from a loss, like that of a relationship, we continue to hold on to what is no longer available to us. When we learn to let go, accept and trust change we clearly experience that every change no matter how tragic always opens the door to more.
3) Doubt your doubts- To access your creative power to solve problems and create what you want, you have to starts from uncertainty. By shifting doubt into uncertainty, you are free to begin believing again in the possibilities that exist. Most anxiety is caused by believing our fear instead of remembering that we really do not know. Letting go of doubt allows you to focus on what you want rather than waste your power resisting what you do not want.
4) Recognizing your rationality- We block feelings of our true desires by rationalizing away our true desires. If we can take time to write down our thoughts, feelings, and desires we can listen to what is going on inside. Rationalization can cover up our feelings of remorse which allow us to self correct. We may do something that hurt others but by rationalizing we deny our souls’ desires to be

The secret of mastering the seasons of your life
“Therefore every tree which does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into fire, —For to everyone who has, more will be given, and he will have abundance; but from him who does not have, even what he has will be taken away” Mathew 3:10, 25:29.
Just like we have different weather seasons that dictate how nature takes its course, we also have seasons in our lives that dictate the way we operate. It is therefore important to understand the season that you are in order to operate effectively. One must however understand that the season of success does not tie in directly with the natural seasons.
Some Important Factors to note:
1) Winter is the season of dreaming and planning: Spring the season of planting: Summer the season for growing and cultivating and: Autumn the season for harvesting and dispersing.
b) The seasons are not necessarily the same length- Some may be longer or shorter than others
c) A season has a beginning and an ending- take note when one season is ending and you are entering the next.
d) The seasons are always in sequence- Make sure you understand what season you are in so that you can respond to the season effectively
2) Crops of success may have different growing periods but all follow the same sequence of seasons. In other words some of your successes will fall into place quickly while others will take years. One area of your life may experience slow growth, another more rapid growth. Just like a mango tree takes longer to bear fruit than corn.
3) Success crops may be cultivated in several areas of your life simultaneously. That is to say, you may be in one season in your personal, social or family life and in quite a different one in your career or business . You may face one set of seasonal challenges as you seek to develop a new skill or to complete a degree program.

Ways to discover your life's mission
“—I am God and there is no other; I am God and there is none like me, declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times things that are not yet done, saying, ‘My counsel shall stand, and I will do all My pleasure’, calling a bird of prey from the east, the man who executes my counsel, from a far country, Isaiah 46:9-11.
A lot of people feel bored and frustrated by life because they find no meaning for living. The same things go on daily and they wonder whether all they see is all there is to life. Until one finds the purpose of their being this kind of feelings is likely to linger because one lives a meaningless life.
To some the feeling of nothingness may come earlier and to others later in life. The fact of the matter is that we are not here by accident. No child is unwanted because before God allowed that child to be conceived, He had established the purpose for the child’s existence. It is our responsibility to find out what that purpose is.
God is a God of purpose and all His creation has a purpose. Scripture says that “All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made. In Him was life, and the life was the light of men” John 1:3-4. In other words we only exist because God made us and the special gifts we each have are entrusted to us by God.
All of us in God are of value and unique but apart from God we are nothing. It thus follows that to establish one’s mission in life one must start with the creator. What God has called you to do will come to pass if you are willing and obedient to listen and follow.
Ignorance of your purpose in life can create abuse of the gifts God has endowed you with. There are so many talented people today but they use their gifts and talents for evil purposes or reject their gift. Whatever God has entrusted you with He will use it for His glory if you will let him.
Ignorance of your purpose does not cancel your purpose because the gifting of God is irrevocable. If you are not careful that same gift can lead to your destruction when not used for the purpose it was intended.

Timing the Seasons of Your Life
“To everything there is a season, A time for every purpose under heaven” Ecclesiastes 3:1.
Most of the time opportunities come our way but we waste them because we have not prepared ourselves to utilize them. We worry about things we want to do but cannot instead of doing things we can do. We forget that success is not a destination but a way of travelling.
To ensure that you get the desires of your life, you must understand that everything happens in seasons and you must understand the seasons of your life and use them wisely. In his book “Timing is everything” Denis Waitely suggests certain principles that are important in timing your life.
Principles to consider in timing your Life:
1) View your success from the long view of time- Success is the collection of your memories; the employment and enjoyment of your present moments and the anticipation of the coming season.
2) View your failures from the short view of time- Failure is delay, not defeat. Choose to use your failure as the fertilizer of your success. In other words, use you errors and mistakes as a way to learn and then dismiss those errors and mistakes form your mind. The meaning of any failure or any success depends on how we take it and what we make of it.

The Importance of Setting Goals for your life
“The purposes of a man’s heart are deep waters, but a man of understanding draws them out” – Proverbs 20:5.
If you want to be successful in life, start by setting goals for yourself. Goals help you focus on what is important instead of reacting to whatever is thrown into your path. Goals provide clarity about what you want and determine the direction of your decision rather than leaving things to happen inadvertently. Setting your goals helps you think about them and talk about them to others and in the process attract the right people, ideas and circumstances into your life to make your goals come into fruition.
How then do you go about setting your goals?
Establish what your mission in life is and make this your main purpose or major goal in life. Your mission in life must be compatible with your true self. This will entail you identifying your strengths and weaknesses. Richard N Bolles said, God has already revealed His will to us concerning our vocation and mission by causing it to be” written in our members”. We are to begin deciphering our unique mission by studying our talents and skills and particularly which ones (or one) we most rejoice to use.
